Bridges Of Madison County

Monday, July 10, 2017

So, I've always wanted to see the Bridges of Madison County....I've read the book and seen the movie and enjoyed both. I can't say they are my favorite or anything, but this is a big part of Iowa's history and made it to Hollywood and I just thought it would be fun to see.

The kids...not so much. I can't say they were real enthused with the idea. But, we asked some friends to go, packed our lunches, and made our way one by one to each bridge! Here are a few photos from our "adventure"!

This was our "sad" photo since this was a bridge that was recently burned down by arson. It truly was sad to see it in person....

Every bridge had graffiti in the inside and writing, and one bridge had a journal that you could write in....the kids had fun reading all of the (appropriate) ones out loud!

I added my own to a few bridges!

All and all a fun day....but it was also exhausting, and hot. And, it was a lot of driving. But, the scenery was beautiful and Winterset was a cute little town with a great ice cream shop. But, we likely won't do this trip ever again- consider it crossed off our bucket list!
