A couple of notes I wrote down from the kids....
Things Saylor says:
"Rainbow" = This means umbrella
"Graph Yard" = This means Garfield
"I'm full of hands" = My hands are full
"My feet are Sparkling" = My feet are asleep
"Hanny-tizer" = This means Hand Sanitizer
"Ears Peered" = This means ears pierced
"Construction Stand" = This means Concession Stand
"Eddy" = Yeti
I said to Joey one day before a game - "Look good, play good...now go do your hair, it looks awful." And, he said "Look good, play good, and you know what you would look REALLLL good doing? Getting my water bottle for me."
Maddox: Hey, mom, Sam told his friends that if GG farts in the car, they can't laugh.
Joey: Yep and Fardle goes "Yep, she just doesn't have control over that rectum.
Maddox: So, mom, don't ever laugh at GG when she farts. She can't help it.
Joey: Mom, the teacher told us today that our homework was looking up the definition of these ten words in the dictionary.
Me: Well, that's not so bad.
Joey: I looked at her and said "Why would I use a dictionary when I can just ask Siri? I mean...just ask her and she tells you. A dictionary is so much work....you have to like, find the word, in a book, and then read it."
Saylor was helping decorate for Christmas. I put a tree on the mantle and said "yeah, I'm not sure I like it there." And, Joey goes "I don't like it." And, Saylor looked at him and said "Joey, you don't tell someone you don't like that! You say 'I don't like that STYLE. Or you say 'I think it might look good somewhere else.' Or, you say 'Let's step back and look at it.' But, you don't say that you don't LIKE IT. That's not nice!"
Joey: I totally got Mrs. Battani yesterday.
Me: How? You tricked her?
Joey: I went up to her and sniffed my nose. And, said "smells like up dog in here." And, Mrs Battani said "What is up dog?" And, I winked and said "Nothing much, what's up with you?"
Joey: Mrs. Battani was doing a math story and she was using $5 subway foot longs as part of her problem. And, I just couldn't let that go so I raised my hand and said "I hate to tell you this, Mrs. Battani but the prices of the footlongs went up to $6. My mom said it was the rising cost of meat!"
Saylor: Mom, let's tell a secret. Who is your favorite kid?
Me: Well, I can't tell you that....everyone is my favorite.
Saylor: I promise I won't tell anyone if you tell me. Who is your favorite kid?
Me: Okayyyy....I'll tell you if you tell me who your favorite parent is.
Saylor: okay...
Me: My favorite kid is definitely YOU! But, don't tell the boys..! Now, who is your favorite parent? I promise I won't tell dad your answer.
Saylor: Dad. He's my favorite.
Saylor came in from outside crying. The boys had been playing basketball with her. I asked her what was wrong and she burst into tears saying "JOEY PUT ME ON SKATES!" hahaha. Obviously, Joey had taken her to the basket and she fell down and he made fun of her for it....but I don't think she quite knew what that meant! she just knew joey was making fun of her!

Saylor turns 4!!
Monday, September 21, 2015
Saylor was very, very excited to turn 4! She got a little confused on when her birthday was vs. when her party was, but she knew she couldn't wait to be four!
It was a pretty "easy" and lowkey day....she had breakfast, school, and then that night, we opened up gifts as soon as Joe got home. Then, I had a girls cooking night out, and Joe took the boys and Saylor out for dinner and Menchies! She got a few birthday calls and got to open our gifts....we got her a doll head (that creeps out our whole family except for Saylor) and a camera! She has played non-stop with both gifts so I think we scored! The boys were really cute with Saylor as she opened up each gift - they were so loving and acted like each gift was so cool. It's fun watching them start to be protective of her!
Then, we had an actual party the following weekend of her birthday! We started that day out by watching both boys play football, and then we came back to our house for sloppy joes, chips, spinach dip, watermelon, and the cutest cake ever!
Favorite gifts included: Little "Live" Birds; My Little Pony Play-doh set; Build-A-Bear gift certificate; clothes; wooden beads for necklaces; jewelery beads to make things; Littlest Pet Shop; pajamas; and more! She loved opening up each gift!
A couple of funny stories about Saylor lately:
* One day, she kept telling me she needed "white meatballs." I had no idea what she was talking about. She said they were white and round. I actually was making meatball sandwiches that night, so I thought she was talking about food, so we kind of went round and round for an hour and both were frustrated. Finally, she told me she thought I kept them in the bathroom.....and I realized she was talking about "cotton balls." : )
* One day, she told me she really needed some "goose tape." I said I didn't know what that was and she said it was really big tape that I use on boxes....and, yes, she meant "duct tape." Quack, Quack....
* One day, at Great Clips, she walked straight up to some stranger and said "One time I was sitting on my dad's lap and he said I had to get off because he pooped his pants!!! And, I wouldn't get off but then I did and I smelled his butt and he DID poop his pants! My dad pooped his pants!" No, Joe did not poop his pants actually....she told the story so fast, yet crystal clear. The guy said "Oh, I don't think I should be hearing this story right now." I couldn't even look at the guy. I was bright red and laughing my butt off. Maddox's face was one of absolute shock and awe. Oh, how we laughed about that when we all got in the car. Joe did not laugh so hard.
I can't believe I have a four year old that no longer needs a sippie to drink, a diaper to change, food to cut up in small pieces, a four strap harness car seat, a nap a day, etc....it's like we actually have 3 real live humans living with us right now! And, so far, I don't miss the baby days. I know my time is coming where I miss it, but for now, I'm really enjoying where she's at!

Maddawgies, Joeyisms, and Say Says

I've written these down on random scraps of paper and need to get them down on the blog!
Maddox talking to me about his lunch time:
Well, all I do at lunch is talk about football. So, if that interests you, you can join the conversation. If not, you don't have to come to lunch.
Saylor had just said "excuse me" when she passed me in the hallway:
Mom, why do I have to say 'excuse me' right now AND when I fart?
Saylor after school:
Sastha was sad so I said "Sastha, what's wrong?" and she wouldn't tell me so I put my arm around her and said "Look at me in the face- what's wrong?" and she told me she was hungry and I said "It's gonna be okay, Sastha."
Joey:
Mom, if you are ever sick, you should go to Papa Mark and Grandma Sheila's house. It was like I had servants all weekend long. They kept asking me if they could get me anything. Like hot chocolate or chocolate milk...and finally, I was like "Why not?" So, I took some chocolate milk. It was awesome.
Saylor praying:
Haverson, Holy Spirit (instead of 'Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
At night time, I sing to Saylor and one of my favorite songs to sing to her is "Amazing Grace" and Grace is also the name of my niece. So, after I sing it, she will say "NOW, sing 'Amazing Saylor'!" Then, I sing Amazing Saylor!
Saylor has imaginary friends named Juno, Popup, and Cory. Cory went to Phoenix with us. Popup gets in trouble at school all the time, and interestingly enough, his mom is in jail. Saylor tells these elaborate stories about her imaginary friends all the time. And, they all play a sport called "Ped-A-Catch." Saylor will say to me "Mom, do I have Ped-A-Catch practice tonight?" She has rules for her own game and everything.
Saylor to me:
"Mom!!! Dad and I had this drink and it's called ROOT BEER!! It is soooo sooo good! You have to try it!"
Maddox is listening to the song "Bed of Lies" by Nicki Minaj:
"I mean, why would anyone want to lay on a bed of lice????" (Lice...Lies...)
Joey snuggled up to me tight one night as we were all sitting around the living room:
Mom, I just love it when our family is all together. It's just chaos. I love it. And, I love you so much, mom. I am so glad I never got another mom. You're the best mom ever.
(Hey...those words don't come out all the time anymore! I had to write it down!)
Maddox after a birthday party:
Mom, there was one mean kid there. He wasn't from our school. And, he was being mean to all of my friends. So, when we played Tag, I made it my mission to get him out every time. And, he said to me "Dude, why do you always get me out?" And, I looked at him and said "Because you were mean to MY friends!" This story cracks me up because there is no more loyal of a friend than my Maddox. You don't mess with his friends or he will hunt you down in Tag!!!
Joe was in Omaha with Joey for a tournament, so it was just me and Maddox at home.
Me: Maddox, it's supposed to be pretty cold today so I think you should wear long sleeves to the game.
Maddox: Where did you hear that?
Me: Well, the weather lady on tv said it's going to be windy and chilly, so I think you need long sleeves.
Maddox: The weather man isn't always right.
Me: Nope, they aren't, but I don't want you to be cold, Maddox. I don't want you out there shivering when you should be worried about the baseball game and not being cold.
Maddox: I'll be fine, mom
Me: Okay, fine, but don't come to me when you are cold out there. I will let you make this decision, but I think you should think it over one more time.
Maddox: I'm FINE.
-----
15 minutes later, Joe talks to him on the phone and Maddox hangs up with Joe.
Maddox: Mom, dad says it's going to be cold out- I'm going to put long sleeves on.
Joey after school:
Mom, today at school, my teacher was saying the word "balls" a lot and asked us how many balls we had....and, you know...that's funny, right? You get it, right? I mean, I wanted to tell her that only boys have balls....but I didn't.
Me: Joey, that's inappropriate and the classroom is not the place for talk like that.
Joey: So, anyway, we all got to giggling about it. And, Ms. Jansen told us that the next person who laughed when she said the word 'balls' would get an infraction form. Man, I had to hold in my laugh the whole day. But, I did- I never cracked once, mom, but it was just So funny. I mean- right? You get it?
Me: YES, Joey! I get it!
Boys will be boys, I guess....
