Well, it's been a couple of weeks since Joe got back from the fishing trip to the Boundary Waters with his dad, and brothers- Tony, Cary and Kyle. But, last Friday night, I took notes as the boys (minus Tony) talked about their favorite moments of the trip. Here's their list! (by the way, I asked my husband to blog about the trip, and well, you can see how that suggestion went over...)
** The picture below describes one of their favorite memories- when Joe III apparently tried to kill everyone by putting the entire vodka bottle on the fire...

** Joe losing a sandal in the waterfall.
** Everyone's favorite memory of Joe was the look on his face when the only thing left to carry was this really heavy pack that was purposely left for him by Kyle. Apparently, Kyle had bragged for 45 minutes that he was going to carry it, but much to Joe's disappointment, that didn't happen.

** Daddy Joe trying to kill his son, Cary in the rapids. Cary put on 6 lifejackets at one time to save himself.
** Tony brought big fatty schmatty fancy pantsy cigars for everyone to smoke....and they were loved by all!*** Daddy Joe's refusal to take Tony's mini-van, and Tony's anger over the final decision.
** When Cary decided to stop fishing and drink more instead, Daddy Joe looked at Cary and said, "You disgust me." Apparently, that was a memorable quote for everyone on the trip!
** And, speaking of things that don't change- apparently, Joe, Cary and Tony did all the dirty work, while Kyle sat by idly. At one point, Cary overheard Daddy Joe saying to Kyle, "Kyle, go make an effort down there!" So, Kyle picked up his plate of food and then just sat closer to the guys and continued to eat.

** Kyle getting his line snagged more than it was thought to be humanly possible.
** Kyle trying to net a fish, almost fell in the water, and Joe's pole went overboard!
** Apparently there was some pooping in the lake by Kyle -- and his brothers laughing uncontrollably about this.
** Kyle clearly got picked on a lot, to which Cary tried to make up for it with compliments, and then kept tallies throughout the trip ("Cary- Plus One!") Daddy Joe was the youngest of five siblings so he "can relate."
** Joe and Tony having to canoe all the way back to get a new pole and when they returned to fishing, they arrived to Daddy Joe, Cary and Kyle catching walleyes left and right.** Joe trying to jump in the boat, missing it, and Tony and Joe both falling in the lake over this.
** Cary got elected to be "Dish Queen" the entire trip. Ali has taught him well! (Trust me, it wasn't their mother....) Bobbi: You have so many other strengths though! : )** Speaking of Bobbi's strengths, I guess Daddy Joe unpacked and reorganized everything 10 times and was taking forever and all the boys were annoyed with him.
** The food- the fish, the beans, the potatoes - but they forgot the fixins for S'Mores. ** Ali's Puppy Chow and Holly's Chex Mix- True highlights of the trip. Just kidding- they didn't say that, I just wanted to include myself in this post.
** Daddy Joe nearly ate the entire bag of chex mix without sharing it.
** Multiple Tick Attacks!
** Coming home to a nice, warm, comfortable bed, their children, their wives and the comforts of home! It was a GREAT trip. Joe told me that in one sense it was weird- because now that he has boys of his own, he can only imagine how great of a trip this must have been for his dad! These boys have always been close, but this trip probably brought them even closer together!

I'm not sure if that makes me really wish I had a brother, or really glad I don't!!!
