Happy Birthday Maddox & Gracie!

We had Maddox's 2nd Birthday Party and Grace's 7th Birthday Party on Saturday. We opted for the breakfast celebration, my sister opted for the night time grill out celebration!
For Maddox's party, we had cinnamon rolls, caramel rolls, coffee cake, waffles with syrup and whip cream, egg casseroles, sausages and fruit! It was divine! Maddox had a coffee cake for his birthday cake and one little cake just for him!

The highlight of the celebration was when all the little kids danced to a bible cd we had, and to Flo Rida. Such contrast, yet so much joy out of both! I think it's important to expose your kids to a WIDE range of music, don't you?
We grilled out for Grace's party. Joe and I and Jeff got her a bunch of clothes-a good mix of trendy (for the aunt in me) and traditional (for the mom in me). It's fun buying girl clothes and I'm pretty sure that's why God hasn't given me one yet.

The highlight of her party was afterwards when I stayed back by myself. Grace and I did a fashion show. I would put together different combinations of leggings and skirts and t-shirts and sweaters and sweater dresses and boots and scarves and then introduce her as "Miss USA" or "Miss Universe" or "Miss Florida." And, then she'd walk down the stairs and shake her hips or do a twirl. Then, she'd turn toward her dad and say, "Dad???" Girls always want their dad's approval. I think this year they all met her dad's approval, but let's be honest, give her two years and we may have battles already. The best part of this was when Grace whispered to Heather, "Can Aunt Holly stay longer????" Like I could say no.

And, I ended up staying until 10 p.m.! Joe had another party to attend so I stayed with the boys and they played and played and did not fight. We watched Air Buddies and ate popcorn. It was great!
On Sunday, we went to Adventureland from 4:30-8:30. The boys had a GREAT time. Gpa Mark and Gma Sheila gave us the tickets and I was just hoping they weren't too "young" for it. They LOVED it. Joey rode the Outlaw 4 times. When I went with him, I was scared out of my mind and he was trying to hold a conversation with me during it! Joe told me he was trying to hold onto Joey tight on that ride and I said, "Gosh- I couldn't worry about Joey! I was too worried about myself!" Joe told me not to repeat that line to anyone - oh well! We rode the Log Ride 4 times and Maddox wasn't scared at all. He kept saying "Again! Again!" It was worth every penny of Gma and Gpa's money!
First day of school tomorrow for Joey. He is very excited and told me he can't wait to meet his new friends....but I am nervous!
