Western Days in Lake City!

At the end of June, we went home to Lake City because it was the one weekend that Heather, Jeff and I could all get home. Lucky us, it was also Western Days back in the hometown! This means, the fun run, parade, and lots of visiting with all the familiar faces of Lake City!

We had a great time being at home and running the fun run as a family! It was fun catching up with old friends, and seeing a bunch of people I hadn't seen in a long time. And, I enjoyed watching the kids do "small town" things that I grew up with.  Sometimes it makes me sad because my kids will never really know a hometown parade or a local race or walking around town and seeing all these people that you know. In Des Moines, the "communities" lie within the schools mainly, so it's just different.
