Christmas Day Is Here....Finally!

Thursday, January 1, 2015

Well, after our whirlwind Christmas, we were definitely ready to be home and celebrate as a family of five (plus a dog!). Each year, I always forget to take photos at this Christmas, so this year, I actually got my camera out and captured some of those moments.

I LOVE their smiles in this photo. It's the moment of total anticipation where they are trying so hard to smile for me so they can just get it over with, and get to the goods!
Miss Thing asked for her own photo....
The boys really wanted a pull-up bar....I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the fact that the girls in the class can do more pull-ups than the boys, and we're out to prove them wrong in 2015. And, we also received a family-sized whoopie cushion because why not?
Joey wanted this hooded Michigan sweatshirt in the worst way. We got each of the kids Michigan gear when we were in Michigan and when they walked out of MDen, they thought they didn't get anything. But, I was stashing it away for Christmas!

Maddox's favorite gift was easily his KD shoes. The funny thing is, he ran down those stairs and looked at the presents and asked right away to open the gifts that were in the shape of a shoe box! His second favorite gift was a new baseball bat!
And, Joey's favorite gift was Electric Football! And, he has played with this non-stop since he got it so it was well worth it! We've had a few controversies over the rules....but so far, so good!

Joe and I also had some favorite gifts. He got a set of copper cups for Moscow Mules and some new shirts. And, I got a new long winter coat and a new popcorn popper! We were both happy!

After our Christmas, we went to Aunt Bobbye's for GG's Christmas. It was a much smaller group, and this year was the first year my husband did not see his parents on Christmas day, so it seemed a little extra quiet for us this year. After that, we came home to take a good, long nap. Then, we woke up and watched Million Dollar Arm with Kevin.  Maddox also got in a fight with the coffee table, the wall, and the Scentsy thing plugged into the wall, and the floor. He came out on the losing side of this battle.

It was a really great Christmas overall. It was exhausting but we got to celebrate with almost everyone this year. And, I have to say that as the kids get older, Christmas gets more fun. They appreciate things, they are easier to handle at all the celebrations, they are able to go with the flow, they are able to play with their new toys and games on their own....and, they also try to give you their own gifts. Saylor literally wrapped up wrapping paper for us. Then, Maddox gave us each a card he drew and colored. And, then Joey gave us a picture he drew - the entire theme of his Christmas card was basketball which made me laugh. After the boys gave us their cards, I could tell Saylor wanted to be thanked again. So, she went to her room, wrapped up a piece from her manger set and handed it to me. So, we thanked her and told her we loved it. Then, she went to the play room and wrapped a piece from her game and we told her how much we loved it. It was hilarious- she clearly just wanted to be thanked and recognized.

And, the other great thing about Christmas is that Joe didn't work on Xmas Eve or on the 26th, which really rarely happens, if ever. So, it was awesome having dad home for the holidays!

Time to bring on 2015 - we're ready for a new year at this house, that's for sure!
