Happy First Birthday, Saylor Lynn!

Saylor turned one this month! Here's what she's been up to:
* Me. Literally. She loves me. She wants me in the room, by her side, on my hip, in my lap or up my pantleg. As long as she can see me, she is good. She does NOT like her brothers to be on my lap or too close to me. She will attack them, pull their hair, scratch their nose, or do whatever it takes to be sure she is my #1.
* She no longer has a bottle, which makes all of us very sad. But, it didn't take long to take it away- she was only getting one bottle at night anyway, so we just had to take that away. She didn't love whole milk at first, but she's slowly coming around to it.
* She takes steps but is really not interested in doing any more than that. Five steps is good enough for her. We hope her lack of desire to want more out of her life does not pop back up when she's 16.
* She LOVES to read and her favorite book is "The Little Engine That Could" and "This Little Piggy." We literally read probably 15 books a day to her....she doesn't always get through the whole book though. Sometimes, you read two pages, and she throws it, and goes to get another book and you start all over. The boys never loved reading as much as she does. They only read at night really, and she reads all day, every day.
* She is still in 95% for height and 79% for weight. She can still wear some of her 9 month clothes, but length becomes a problem in the pants.
* Her eating is touch and go....sometimes she eats a ton; sometimes she leaves everything on her plate. She hates being in her high chair and she's always crawling out of it.
* She says "mama" 92 times a day. And, she says "pop" - we're not sure if that's papa or if someone is smuggling soda to her. And, she says "bah" - which we think used to mean bottle. But, otherwise, she just babbles nonsense.
* She can go up the stairs on her own, and she is getting better at going down a couple stairs at a time.
* She loves our dog, Remsy, so much. She lays on her all the time, she pets her, she pulls her ears, she laughs when Remsy wags her tail....Remsy is her pillow.
* She's still taking about 2 naps a day- and her morning nap is her big nap. She sleeps through the night better than I do, and she wakes up at about 6:15-6:30 every morning. She usually plays in her crib and turns her music on and that usually buys me about 15 more minutes before I have to go get her.
* The best part about Saylor is how she tucks her little arms in and pulls her knees up to her chest when she wants to cuddle with you. It melts our hearts every time. She's the best cuddler ever.
* She waves - but she's usually about 2 minutes behind so ends up waving to no one. And, she kisses- open mouth with a swipe of her nose, so you're sure to get some snot and some slobber all in one kiss. Good luck to her first boyfriend (Mr. 30-year-old).
Her first year went by so fast, and it just seemed pretty easy compared to the other boys. She is a routine baby for the most part with no big surprises in store for us yet. She is so loving and so easy to love....as Maddox said to me the other day, "What would we do without her?"
Happy Birthday, sweet Saylor Lynn! Don't grow up too fast!
