This summer, we booked four tickets to Colorado to visit Joe’s Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. It was the first time on a plane for the boys – and they did GREAT! I don’t do so well on planes, so compared to me, they did really great!
We got in late Wednesday night and were greeted by Uncle Frank and some great pizza! The next morning, we got up and visited Uncle Frank’s law office and then we went to the Denver Aquarium where we met Aunt Daria there. It was a really fun place!
Then, we went to lunch with Aunt Daria and then we got to go see Anthony (cousin). He was busy studying this weekend so we just wanted to stop by and say hello. We then headed back to Uncle Frank and Aunt Genie’s and waited on the arrival of all the cousins!
Joe and Jason’s birthdays are on Nov. 10th and 11th so we celebrated with a nice dinner!
Let’s just say that Kara had to perform an operation in the back room on the cake – but it was successful! Jason helped prepare the delicious steak tacos! And, Rossi was throwing around birthday presents that he dug out of his garage! (Seriously, wish I could find presents like that in my garage…). I think Uncle Frank might have been trying to top the jersey gift by showing Rossi a signed baseball, but I’m not really sure!
The night ended with….a REALLY, REALLY good bottle of wine (thanks, Uncle Frank!), fun reality television conversation, making fun of Jason’s Texas Longhorns football team, some good ol’ wrestling between Rossi and the boys, talk of Rossi’s mad flag football skillz, Rossi’s good (or bad) wine recommendations, our mutual love of the Food Network Channel, and the movie “Blow” with Johnny Depp.
The wine was so good…and the conversation was so good that Kacey and I had this exchange:
Kacey: So, do you think you’ll have more?
Me: Yes, most definitely (as I hand her my wine glass)
Kacey: Um, I meant children, but I guess you can have some more wine, too.
It was a great time – and it was fun to be on Uncle Frank and Aunt Genie’s “turf”. When we see them, it’s almost always here in Iowa – so it was fun to be part of THEIR family in Colorado! We’ll definitely be back!
