Here was my laundry room & mud room “before” shot (unfortunately, it was the only one I took).
Below is one of the photos I used for my inspiration: In fact, I sent it to my father-in-law, and told him this was my vision. And, my other inspiration was the rug seen below. It was a housewarming gift received from my sister-in-laws….a rug from Garnett Hill. I loved the colors- apple/lime greens and blues…
And, here’s the outcome!
New cupboards and countertop from Lowe’s, new paint and beautiful knobs. I actually sing a little love song for those knobs every time I open a cupboard. Anthropolgie will do that to you. And, I made the clipboard hung on the wall (above) with a little Modge Podge, Scrapbook paper, and a Clipboard. I’m going to alternate some of the boys’ artwork on it. And, I put a bulletin board on the other side filled with things that make me happy…one day it will be overwhelmed with school schedules, calendars, and rosters!
And, the other side of the room has a cute little coat rack and storage unit. I thought the baskets needed a little something, so I found some galvanized metal tags to label them. (It’s no secret that I LOVE labeling anything. It’s one of the traits that my sister hates loves about me the most.) And, doesn’t that bike make you believe that I love going on bike rides?? And, I hung some of the cutest bags that I had on hand that fit the color scheme, too.
Just to remind my husband of how happy he is to be “home” after a long day’s work, I put some wall words up above the door. He asked me if that meant he had to announce his homecoming every night….yes. Because we are JUST like the Cleavers and all.
I spent a lot of time and effort putting this room together versus all of the other rooms in my house, but I think that when you first walk into your home, you want to feel good about it, you want to feel peace and organization so I wanted it to be perfect. I love this space now! And, I have a feeling June Cleaver would be proud, too!

Holly it looks fantastic!!!! I can't wait to see the house next time we're in Des Moines (christmas...which will be here before any of us are ready for it!)
love you guys!
This makes me sad because my garage is so messy and gross and I always walk in that door. we need to do something about that.
Love the new room Holly!! And my sister stole my comment, which was going to be...."I can't wait to see you new home at Christmas!!" xo
Everything is SO SO SO adorable!
I LOVE it! The color is so soothing :)
And that "honey, I'm home!" is totally cute.
Thanks for sharing this with me!
