More to Love....

Okay, I would like to take a moment to ease some people's minds about my Chunky Monkeys. Maddox recently weighed in at his 9-month appointment (as said in a previous blog) and yep, he's about ready to move on to the adult scale at the office - forget the scales for babies! Anyway, as you all know, Joey was also big as a baby, but he's a string bean now. So, I thought I'd do a little comparison of the two....

JOEY
born: 8 lbs. 8 oz and 21.5 inches
2 weeks: 9 lbs. 3 oz. and 21.75 inches
2 months: 13 lbs. 9 oz. and 24.25 inches
6 months: 19 lbs. 11 oz. and 29 inches
9 months: 23 lbs. and .5 oz. and 31 inches

MADDOX
born: 8 lbs. 12 oz. and 20.75 inches
2 weeks: 10 lbs. 1 oz. and 22.25 inches
2 months: 14 lbs. 15 oz. and 25 inches
6 months: 20 lbs. 10 oz. and 29 inches
9 months: 23 lbs. and 15 oz. and 30.75 inches

So, for all of you who keep telling me that Maddox is much bigger than Joey, I think you'll see that you just don't recall just how big Joey was! It's clear that I have big, big babies, but in my opinion, there's just more to love. As my sister-in-law, Kelly, told me once, "We want boys who can crush you to dust!" I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds good. She says that as her little boy (who is 18 months old) weighs less than my Maddox at 9 months old!

I would also like to express how I feel when someone asks "where they get that from"? What they mean is "Which one of you parents made you have fat kids?" I never know how to respond to that. Should I jump to answer it, raise my hand and say, "Me! Me! I made them fat! I gave them fat genes!" ?????? Or, do I look at my husband and say, "Clearly, it was his fat a**?" I don't understand.

I love that my boys have big thighs, I love that they weigh more at 6 months than most 1-year olds, I love that I can pinch their cheeks, I love that they have a little roll over their diapers, and mostly, I love that they are healthy. It's hard for me to worry about their weight when I know they are healthy.

My mother-in-law had a funny story about Maddox. She said she called her husband (a doctor) and said, "Um, when should I stop feeding Maddox? Can you over-feed a child?" Maddox just kept eating and eating and eating and she didn't know when to stop! That cracks me up and I love every bit of that story!

Like I said - there's more to love! And, I'd like to think it's my love that makes them grow. Kind of like Clifford the Big Red Dog. Emily Elizabeth just loved him so much that he kept growing and growing and growing. I'm hoping when they turn 18, they'll grow right out of my house.
