Our week began with a series of sleepless nights contributed by Maddox. He's teething right now and I think they're the root of the problem. However, he also has a rash that was diagnosed as some long word I can't pronounce. Some itching may come with that so I also wonder if it's that. That made me feel sad for babies because I guess when something itches on them they wait for it to go away because they can't control their hands yet. That would be frustrating. Anyway, Maddox has been up off and on throughout the last few nights making it hard on the whole family. We don't feel as if we can let him cry it out, as his older brother Joey is also not a great sleeper, and their rooms are back to back. So, our options are limited right now. This photo of Maddox says it all - with his "Insomniac" bib. However, it also says it all because he's just an overall happy baby. After a long night of no sleep, when he awakes in the morning, I go in there to get him and just can't be mad. He's too cute.
The best part of my Monday? Joey woke up from his nap and had apparently went downstairs looking for me (I was in my bedroom upstairs). He swung open my door, and said, "Mommy! Mommy! There you are!" and climbed up into bed and laid down with me. And, here's the best part, he said, "Mom, I was looking all over for you and I couldn't find you and it made me so sad" and then he patted/rubbed my stomach and laid his head down on me. It was the cutest. I cherished the moment because I know that one day he'll want to not be able to find me in our house and won't be able to escape me. I loved it.
The worst part of my Monday? Maddox was a little monster. He cried most of the day and was only content when I held him, rocked him or when he slept. I couldn't wait for Joe to get home because I literally thought my arms might fall off from carrying the little load around all day.
The best part of my Tuesday -- Billy Joel concert! It was amazing, as all of his past concerts have been. Joe gave me this for my 30th birthday. I loved every minute of his music. It's funny because I can picture the two records my dad had of Billy Joel in my head. 'An Innocent Man' just brings back the memories of playing records in the living room. Joe's more of a fan of his more recent stuff, but the oldies are still his best. 'Only the Good Die Young' is one of my favorites, along with "Still Rock and Roll to me"- I know the words from listening to my dad sing them. Hey, none of us ever grew up with great voices, but we grew up with an assortment of music and I love how each song can bring you back to a place and time in my life. Anyway, we went with Sean and Julie McMurray and had a blast. The lady in front of us definitely had a great time. I loved watching her dance by herself. She was in heaven.
The worst part of my Tuesday -- the boys had an overnight with Gma Bobbi and Gpa Joe and neither of them slept well. So, they've exhausted their grandparents once again. We got home late, and were up early as well, but the sleep in between was better than what it's been the last three days so we should be thankful.
The best part of my Wednesday -- to be honest, today hasn't been that great. But, the worst part - I forgot my sister-in-law's birthday yesterday and I forgot to turn in my hours for my paycheck so I won't get it for 10 more days. Looks like ramen noodles for the gang for a few days!
Here's to a good night's sleep while dreaming of Billy Joel's "Piano Man."

First - I didn't know you had a blog, why didn't you tell me? I had to find it on Heather's, and even that took me about a million years to realize. I've got a lot of reading to catch up on!
Second - I feel for ya, we should text as long as we're both awake through the whole night!
Love the pics, the boys are absolutely adorable!

We are so excited you started a blog. Now we can see lots of pictures of the boys. We may be in IA over the summer and would love to have a playdate with you and the boys. Thanks for the special note.
