That afternoon, Bobbi and I took the boys to Backyard Adventures. It’s just a big indoor playground with lots of slides, swings, playhouses, little rock climbing walls and a basketball court. Joey was in heaven. He ran the whole time. I must say, I was very proud of the little guy. He was so nice to all of the little kids. I saw him open the door for little kids to go before him. I saw him watching out for the little boy he met. And, one time he wan

Friday night, we went to Bobbi and Joe’s to catch Kate and Kacey on ‘Can You Duet?’ but they were hardly on- guess they’ll be on more next weekend. Joey asked to hold Carter. That night, Carter was his best friend. I like this picture because Joey looks thrilled & Carter looks scared out of his mind, and rightfully so!
Today, I shopped with Bobbi to just get out of the house – Joe got some quality time with the kids. We went to Valley Junction, Ingersoll Avenue and Letter Perfect. Surprisingly, neither of us found anything we loved so that was a disappointment (to us – our husbands were thrilled).
Tonight, we’re meeting our friends, Wes and Amy, out at the Star Bar. We’ve been trying to get together for nearly 6 months now so finally a date worked out. The boys are at Bobbi and Joe’s (what would we do without them?).
Here’s something I don’t ever want to forget about Joey: his love for surprises! Let me give you some examples:
1:
Joey: Mommy, I have a surprise for you! (With something behind his back). Now, close your eyes!
Then, he took out a blank piece of paper from behind his back and said, “Here, mom, it’s for you! It’s a picture of you!”
Me: Where am I? This doesn’t have anything on it.
Joey: Mom, we’re pretending!
Me: Oh, I LOVE it! Thank you so much!
2:
Joey: Mom, what’s this man’s name?
Me: IronMan
Joey: Oh yeah. I can’t wait to surprise daddy!
Joey: Daddy, close your eyes! Now, open them! SURPRISE! It’s IronMan!
Daddy: Wow! I love IronMan! That’s awesome!
3:
Joey: Hiding behind the curtain in the living room.
Daddy: Walks in as he just gets home for work and pretends not to see Joey.
Joey: “Here I am daddy! Surprise! I’m right here!”
4:
When Joey gets up from his naps, he “sneaks” up on you and says, “Boo! Surprise – I woke up!”
5:
The best is when we get to surprise him. As soon as we say we have a surprise, he starts closing his eyes and it doesn’t matter what he gets, he says, “Thank you! I love my surprise!”
6:
Anytime he walks into either grandparents’ house, he says, “Do you have a surprise for me grandma?” I’d worry about this if I didn’t remember my own brother asking for a surprise anytime anyone walked in the door, and he didn’t turn out selfish or greedy, so I’ll just hope for the same for our boys.

Here's to more surprises and less rainy days!
