Maddox had his first homerun at Cownie Park on May 21st! He has gotten so close so many times...to the fence, bounce before the fence....but nothing would go over. So, he finally got one to clear and he cleared it by a lot! He told me he didn't know it was a homerun until after he cleared first base, but even after that, I don't think I saw him crack a smile. He was all business rounding those bases! His friends all came out on the field to congratulate him and he just steadily made his way to the dugout. I wanted to go hug him and squeeze him in front of all of his friends but I remained calm and cool about it...played it off like it was no big deal! : ) And, then I hugged him and squeezed him when I put him to bed that night! I happened to have my camera so I even got a few shots of the action!
It was a fun day to be "Maddox's mom"....we got to keep the ball and we labeled it.
It should be noted that although he did hit a homerun on Saturday, he struck out three times on Sunday. : ( This is how baseball is like life...ups and downs, highs and lows. But, it's fun to remember "that one time he hit a homerun."
