Finally....Remsburg Family Christmas

Monday, January 4, 2016

Well, we had a few minor delays to the Remsburg Family Christmas...Aubree's grandma passed away and her sister had a baby! So, in lieu of all of that, we decided to move our Christmas to the next available weekend which was January 2nd! It actually didn't seem all that weird, and it still felt like Christmas for me -- probably because we hadn't had my parents' Christmas yet. So, I never had a feeling that Christmas had officially passed yet (although let's be honest, those decorations came down on the 26th....but my SPIRIT had not yet passed yet!)

The kids went sledding behind the Ranger while Joe and I went and visited some friends in the nursing home (that sounded weird saying that). They had a good time until the snow went up the pants and in the face. But, they still had fun. And, although varying reports are out, it sounds like they made it at least 30 minutes but not more than an hour and 30 minutes. So, that's success!

Sadly, Aubree was sick this time around, and her other grandma was not doing very well either. But, Jeff and Aubree made the trip despite it all, which we were all very happy about! And, Faith also made the trip....

The best part of Christmas is opening gifts....and these boys were really looking forward to these gifts. In fact, Joey asked Santa at the mall for it and then said "But, also, my papa might get that for me so you might want to check!"

And, this little girl was upgraded to a full karoake machine this Christmas! And, she also got a Girl Scout oven (that she didn't stop talking about the entire weekend).

Saylor was a teacher or a mother hen all weekend long. I loved watching her just work the room. The other four cousins kind of do their own thing and Saylor hangs out with the adults. And, when I say she hangs out with us, I mean she tells us all what to do.

I learned a new card game- Trash- that I really liked! Grace and Maya both got clothes and cute night lights from us for Christmas. And, Joe and I got a whole bunch of "unbreakable" glasses for poolside. We also got an automatic wine opener that I'm excited to test out!

This Christmas really kind of stretched on and on since it went to January 3rd this year. But, as we drove home from Lake City, I was just thankful that a lot of things still remain the same. That we may have to adjust our schedule, adjust where we celebrate, adjust traditions....but for the most part, our families have remained close and adapt pretty easily. And, although we all really enjoy being together, we all seem to be okay with being on our own too. I appreciate that...someone once told me that true happiness starts within your own home's walls -- to wake up every morning and absolutely love the first people you see every day. That's such a blessing- and one we don't have to just experience on Christmas.

Now...on to 2016!!! Bring on the New Year's Resolutions -- Joe already wrote his down and now I need to write mine down!! Here we go!
