Saylor was very, very excited to turn 4! She got a little confused on when her birthday was vs. when her party was, but she knew she couldn't wait to be four!
It was a pretty "easy" and lowkey day....she had breakfast, school, and then that night, we opened up gifts as soon as Joe got home. Then, I had a girls cooking night out, and Joe took the boys and Saylor out for dinner and Menchies! She got a few birthday calls and got to open our gifts....we got her a doll head (that creeps out our whole family except for Saylor) and a camera! She has played non-stop with both gifts so I think we scored! The boys were really cute with Saylor as she opened up each gift - they were so loving and acted like each gift was so cool. It's fun watching them start to be protective of her!
Then, we had an actual party the following weekend of her birthday! We started that day out by watching both boys play football, and then we came back to our house for sloppy joes, chips, spinach dip, watermelon, and the cutest cake ever!
Favorite gifts included: Little "Live" Birds; My Little Pony Play-doh set; Build-A-Bear gift certificate; clothes; wooden beads for necklaces; jewelery beads to make things; Littlest Pet Shop; pajamas; and more! She loved opening up each gift!
A couple of funny stories about Saylor lately:
* One day, she kept telling me she needed "white meatballs." I had no idea what she was talking about. She said they were white and round. I actually was making meatball sandwiches that night, so I thought she was talking about food, so we kind of went round and round for an hour and both were frustrated. Finally, she told me she thought I kept them in the bathroom.....and I realized she was talking about "cotton balls." : )
* One day, she told me she really needed some "goose tape." I said I didn't know what that was and she said it was really big tape that I use on boxes....and, yes, she meant "duct tape." Quack, Quack....
* One day, at Great Clips, she walked straight up to some stranger and said "One time I was sitting on my dad's lap and he said I had to get off because he pooped his pants!!! And, I wouldn't get off but then I did and I smelled his butt and he DID poop his pants! My dad pooped his pants!" No, Joe did not poop his pants actually....she told the story so fast, yet crystal clear. The guy said "Oh, I don't think I should be hearing this story right now." I couldn't even look at the guy. I was bright red and laughing my butt off. Maddox's face was one of absolute shock and awe. Oh, how we laughed about that when we all got in the car. Joe did not laugh so hard.
I can't believe I have a four year old that no longer needs a sippie to drink, a diaper to change, food to cut up in small pieces, a four strap harness car seat, a nap a day, etc....it's like we actually have 3 real live humans living with us right now! And, so far, I don't miss the baby days. I know my time is coming where I miss it, but for now, I'm really enjoying where she's at!
