Maddox....

Here are a few things going on with Maddox right now...

* His biggest problem with Joey can be summed up in these words "Joey won't play _____ with me but I played ____ with him." It comes to me about once a day at least.
* He takes baseball very seriously and loves to play! He has done great on his new baseball team. He plays second base the most and seems to love it. He has a great game sense....just knows where he should be almost at all times.
* Unlike Joey who has lots of friends and wants them around at all times, Maddox is more of a kid who will probably be loyal to those 1-4 friends his whole life. He just isn't as trusting or doesn't ease into big groups as well....but he is a really great friend to those he loves most.
* Maddox asked me if Joe and Kevin ever got in any fights, and I said "Well, Maddox, when you're friends with someone for that long, it's natural to get into a few fights. But, dad and Kevin haven't gotten in many." And, Maddox said "Well, me and Carter (Coppola) will never get into a fight." I said "Well, you guys aren't just friends, you are cousins, too. You probably will get in a fight sometime." And, Maddox looked at me and with all seriousness said "Mom, we're tight. Like really tight." : ) He and his cousin, Carter, are still pretty close!
* Although Maddox may fight with his brother, I do notice that he is a very agreeable kid with his friends. He will do pretty much anything, and will follow the leader of the group. I'm not sure I can label him a complete follower, but he isn't so much a leader either. He is a people pleaser overall....
* He does not like to get into trouble and if he gets in trouble by a teacher, parent, coach, or non-member of our family, it will eat at him for days.
* He is still a lover, hugger, snuggler with all of us. And, randomly, he will look at Joe and I and say "I love you, mom. I love you, dad." It melts my heart.
* He still loves wearing pajamas to bed. Joey kind of is into shorts and old t-shirts. But, Maddox has always loved pajamas so I love this.
* He gets frustrated doing basketball drills with Joey because he's not as good at them as Joey. We're trying to work with him on his reactions and the standards he has for himself....
* Other coaches and teachers seem to enjoy working with Maddox....they always say things like "I just love him" or "He's the best kid" or "He's so easy" or "I wish I had 10 of him."  I think he saves all of his frustrations and emotions for us at home! I guess that's a good thing!
* He still needs a good, long nap every three weeks. Or, he will implode.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of Maddox:
