First Day of School

Thursday, August 21, 2014

It finally came....the first day of school! To be honest though, the boys did not dread it as much as I thought they would. Joey was ready for recess, PE, learning multiplication and division, and seeing his friends again; and I think Maddox was kind of ready to be done with kindergarten. I think he went into first grade more confident and ready.  Clothes were laid out, backpacks ready, new shoes on, showers done, and of course, we got those hair colics ready to go. Ladies be loving those real soon.

Joey had a great first day! He got in the car and said "Third grade is going to be awesome!" He gets to eat the latest lunch shift which means he is not dying of hunger when he gets in the car. But, they are also the youngest grade out at recess since he is now with the 4th, 5th and 6th graders so he wasn't thrilled about that. Apparently, he and his friends asked to play with the 4th graders and they got told "No." That made Joe and I kind of laugh....but, otherwise he had a really good day!

Maddox also had a great first day but he was a little quiet in the car. Of course, he WAS hungry because he has the 10:30 lunch time! He said he liked his table and that he has the first three days "off" from homework but then it starts next Monday. He likes his teacher and he played basketball and kickball at recess. Also, Joey told me the news on the playground was that Maddox was the "wanted" player on the flag football team, so I think that kind of lifted Maddox's spirit.

Here's to a great third grade and first grade year! Miss Thing starts preschool after Labor Day so we will be having a lot of one-on-one time in the next few weeks!
