Happy 60th Dad!

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

After Joey's First Communion celebration, we celebrated my dad's 60th birthday! Jeff and Aubree came to town- with their dog, Faith, in tow. All of the kids were more excited to have Faith here than anyone else! We had an easy birthday....went to Rube's Steakhouse, sat around the firepit, had french toast, opened gifts....and laughed a lot! It really was a lot of fun!

For dad's birthday, each family got him a t-shirt that suited their family. Grace picked out Papa's t-shirt from them- a Happy Hump Day t-shirt since she and Papa wish each other a happy hump day every Wednesday. Jeff and Aubree got dad a "Bacon: The Gateway Meat" t-shirt because Aubree is a vegetarian and Jeff made her try bacon a few weeks ago. We did have to explain to my mom what a gateway drug was....And, our family got dad a Michigan shirt! We also got dad some fancy shaving stuff!

After Rube's, we went home and sat around the firepit. Faith also joined us...and Aubree apparently decided to dress her up for the big 60th. We feel sorry for Faith, to say the least. There were lots of laughs, stories, and good times. This is when we gave dad his big gift- which was a compilation of 60 years of memories- from friends, cousins, people he's worked with, neighbors, classmates, etc. There were a lot of good memories- some of which I could have gone without ever knowing. But, I loved it when dad would read the name and say "Oh geez....I bet he's going to say....yep, that's what he said...". Then dad would go into the WHOLE story.

Happy 60th Birthday, Dad and Papa Mark! Hope it was a memorable one....every year means more and more to me. Love you!
