Here's a little snapshot of our Friday, February 14th...
Annual heart-shaped pancakes...
The kids packed their Valentines....Doritos for the kiddos and Nacho Cheese & Chips for the teachers!
I volunteered in both kids' classrooms for the Valentine's Day parties. I have to say that kids get a little crazy on Valentine's Day.....
I packed a special Valentine's Day lunch for the kids and Joe (I know he secretly loves it)...heart-shaped sandwiches, goldfish, cheese that spells "I heart you", heart-shaped carrots, chocolate-dipped strawberries and heart shaped Little Debbie cakes! I also packed valentine jokes (and Joey told me his were totally lame and not funny....but Maddox loved his...no word from Joe yet whether he thought they were funny).
This little love muffin helped me cook dinner in the morning.
Once everyone got home from school, we prepared for dinner: steak with homemade Jack Daniels sauce, salad, twice baked potatoes, valentine cookie bars and a Love Potion (Raspberry Sherbert, Raspberry Lemonade + Sprite) to drink!
Doesn't it look pretty? The truth is...dinner was a flop. I let the sauce boil over, it lit the stove on fire and smoke filled the ENTIRE house. We had to open every room and every window and then we froze to death. The twice baked potatoes didn't taste that great- they never really got hot enough inside. The m&m bars were too chocolatey. The wine....the wine was perfect. That was Joe's contribution to the meal - wine and tulips and both were perfect!
We then opened up our valentines from aunts, uncles, gmas, gpas and each other! I'm sure that was the kids' favorite part of the day!
I told Joe next year to remind me to get carry-out. We can still have a candlelit dinner but between school parties, making valentines, valentine boxes, etc, I was sort of exhausted.
Joe spoiled me with some new workout pants and a case for my phone! And, I got him some nice face wash and after-shave balm (which is not a very typical gift for him but I think he liked it!)
Happy Valentine's Day from our family to yours....
