Christmas 3: Mark and Sheila's Christmas

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

This year, we went back to Lake City on Monday night, Dec. 23rd and celebrated Christmas with Gma and Gpa Remsburg on Christmas Eve.  On Monday night, we all just stayed up and hung out and laughed a lot and made fun of each other.  On Tuesday, we got up and the kids had snowman pancakes and mom baked egg casseroles for the adults to eat later.  We opened up our presents on Christmas Eve morning, too, and had some very happy kids after that!

During the day, we played Life the Fame version (um, I struggled reading the rules apparently but eventually we played the real game); played with our new toys; put Snap  Circuits together; and spent a lot of time in the Minnie Mouse costume!

The kids (er, Grace) put on a "play" for all of us adults and for Grandma Phyllis. It truly was the play that would never end. Joey tried getting out of it several times but I couldn't do that to Grace- he was going to have to put up here. She was so excited and had worked so hard on it. She had a script and everything!
We went to church on Christmas eve and took up the back two pews! Saylor was very insistent that EVERYONE should have praying hands. She'd go around to each of us and say "fold your hands" and "now, fold your hands" and "put head down." She wanted everyone in praying mode!

Then, I had to take her back to the cry room during church because she was being too loud. She heard Pastor come on over the speaker in the room, looked up and said "Who Dat??" and "Mom, shhh, who dat? Dat Jesus? Is dat Jesus talkin, mom?" I about died laughing. Then there would be a song....then pastor would come on and again and she'd say it again "Shhhh....you hear dat? Is dat Jesus? Dat Daddy?"  Oh, I loved it.

After church, we went back to Des Moines. For the first time in Joey's life, we woke up on Christmas morning in our own beds.  It sure freed up some time before we headed off to Aunt Bobbye's but it's always  nice being with my mom and dad on siblings on Xmas morning too- even if it is rushed.

It was a great day being together!!
