Washington D.C. Trip

Sunday, May 6, 2012

Joe and I went to Washington D.C. for one of our good friends' weddings! Joe met Jeff in law school and they studied for the bar exam every day together and became close then.  Jeff met his wife, Brette, while they were both working in D.C.  Since leaving for D.C., Brette came with Jeff to visit Iowa, and Jeff has been back a couple of times. But, we wish they lived here....D.C. is way too far away! Anyway, we were so excited to go to their wedding - they've been engaged for nearly two years, so this has been a wedding in the making! Brette was diagnosed with cancer more than two years ago, and is now fully recovered, but seeing Jeff and Brette shine through those years made this day even more special!

We also shopped in Georgetown, ate at a fun pizza place, saw the monuments at night, ate a delicious Red Velvet cupcake with a mimosa, and went to a movie....um, yeah, we went to a movie when it was raining cats and dogs in Georgetown!!

While in D.C., we also got to see Joe's cousin, Jason, play baseball for Notre Dame in Georgetown! It was so fun to get to see him, and he got to start so that was an added bonus!

And, we also got to visit my childhood friend, Andrea, while in D.C.  My mom and Andrea's mom went to high school together, and along with their friend, LaDean, they were best friends. Andrea and I used to be pen pals! She lived in Minnesota and we always got to see her when our moms got together! It was fun catching up and seeing what her life in D.C. was like!

It was a fast and furious trip - but we're so glad we got to go! Here are a few photos from the weekend. My camera broke while in D.C., so that's why the quality of these photos is less than phenomenal!
