A few weeks ago, we celebrated Joe's Grandma's 95th Birthday! I really didn't think much of it until I got to the party, and then started to realize just how blessed we were to have her for 95 years. My father-in-law is the youngest of his siblings, so it would have been 'normal' for my kids to NOT have a relationship with their great-grandma....I mean, very few grandmas make it to their 95th, and very few have the relationship she has with her grandkids and great-grandkids!
Here are some of my memories of GG:
* She always says "Love You Twice As Much" to her grandchildren. The kids just LOVE saying that to her!
* She "lives" with all of her kids on a rotational basis, so the great-grandkids really have gotten to know her better because they see her so often.
* She reads A LOT - and she always puts an "X" in the book once she has completed it. My mom has loaned books to G.G. and it always makes me smile when I see an "X" in a book!
* Peaches make her nautious. And, she does not like butter.
* She looks good in almost everything she wears. I love all of her patterned skirts and sweater sets.
* Her license plates (when she drove) read "Doris C". And, if you would pass her on the street and wave your hand off, she still would not see you. (That may have been our indicator that it was time to remove her from the roads.)
* My husband's favorite memory is when she beat the team bus to the Luther basketball game, and he found her sitting on the bleachers in the front row when he got to the gym. She drove herself, despite recommendations from others that she should stay at home.
* She likes to read at Lake Ely in Aunt Bobbye's cabin, and watch everyone swim and play out the window. (I once blocked her view accidentally with beach towels, and it took me a lot of kissing up to get back on her good side. whew.)
* She's very good at feeding and holding babies!
* She is VERY proud of the family she created.
Here are a few pictures from our celebration:

Happy 95th Birthday, G.G.! We love you twice as much!
