First Day of School!

Monday, September 6, 2010

Joey's first day of Half-Day Kindergarten was last Wednesday! He looked SO old and ready to take on the world!! Since he is a summer birthday, he will do half-day kindergarten this year, and full day kindergarten next year (and, well, let's be honest, two years of kindergarten will do this child some good!)
Maddox came out for his first day photos and was so disappointed it wasn't HIS first day. It was a pretty busy morning getting ready so I didn't get real sad until I tied his shoes and gave him a big hug. Joey patted my back and said, "Mom, it will be okay. I will see you later, okay?" The kindergartner was making sure his mom was okay - I think it's supposed to be the other way around! As Joey pulled away, Maddox and I sat on the front step and we both had tears streaming down our face. Joey rolled down his window and yelled, "Maddox, I love you! Catch my kiss!" and Maddox yelled back, "I love you, too, Joey! I caught it! Catch mine!" and they drove away....
Maddox's first day of 3-year old preschool was on Thursday. He will go to school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-11:30 a.m. He only wanted his photo taken WITH Joey, not by himself! He was confident, yet a little timid. He told me 3 times that morning that he "will NOT sit by any girls!" Let's hope that motto continues until he's 29. I always take a photo of the boys shoes on the first day of school. There's nothing like a new pair of Nikes on a sweet little boy, is there? And, well, let me say- I may make this an annual first day of school tradition, as well. This is daddy's butt. He bent over and Joey and I looked at each other and Joey said, "Do it, mom!" (Great minds think alike). I snapped the shot and Joey and Maddox ran over and said, "Let me see Daddy's butt! Let me see!" And, I swore to my husband I would delete it. (Seriously, you'd think he'd know me by now!)

Not a bad "end" to our first day of school!

I cannot stop laughing. I bet he didn't think twice, did he. He seriously thought you'd delete it - kinda like you're sick of flushing the toilet into the phone. Seriously, Joe. You've GOT to be one step ahead. How funny. I can't wait to get him and Jon to wear the same shirts again for Christmas!!!
