It seemed like just yesterday that we brought Joey to Ely, Minnesota for his first “vacation.” He served mainly as an innocent bystander to the fishing, the big meals, the swimming, tubing, jumping off the boathouse, skiing and boating.
And, this past weekend, he grew up before my eyes. Just like that, I saw a flash of him turning 16 and I begged Father Time to just slow down. Every time I’d see Joey doing something new, I just wanted to grab him and freeze him before he could do it. He skiied with Joe, he tubed, he caught the biggest fish, he hung out with Uncle Cary (as in – he was “one of the guys”), he jumped off the big boathouse….he was so brave and just looked so old. And, I just kept thinking about the days when he just sat in the swing on the boathouse admiring the view.
