Well,  we knew the snow was coming…and coming….and would not stop but we decided to head back to Lake City despite the blizzard! We left early Thursday morning and stayed in Lake City until Saturday.  The snow came, the ice came, the rain came and the lights flickered on and off a lot but we never did lose it completely!  Although, we may have lost our sanity several times!

It actually was a lot of fun- all being together with absolutely no other place to go!  The kids got outside one time and played in the big drifts, but other than that, we were inside a lot. We played games, watched movies, ate and drank (a lot!).  It was nice not rushing from place to place to place, however, we did miss Grandma Coppola’s Christmas which was unfortunate.

The boys got some great gifts- Toy Story Land, Leapster, Crayola Glow Dome, a new football, some clothes, some games and these gross “weasels”. They are battery operated and they chase these balls everywhere.  All of us got a kick out of these!

We made Jesus’ Birthday Cake at home since we weren’t in our house- we tried Strawberry Soda Pop Cake.  It wasn’t my favorite, and I’d consider it a letdown, which also goes along with my traditional Jesus Cake. I am 0 for 4 now, I believe.  Someday, I will honor Jesus with a cake He is deserving of- but have yet to master that!

We went home on Saturday and arrived to find that Santa had been at our house!  They were thrilled to receive pajamas (not so much), a book (not so much), and a game for Leapster and a Nintendo DS.  I’m still sticking to my three-gift each rule, however, I will say that a Nintendo DS isn’t exactly cheap! Santa is broke!

And, our last Christmas was at Grandma Remsburgs.  It was different without Grandpa there- not seeing him when we walked through the door, not seeing his smile as we opened up the gifts, not hearing his laugh- but I felt him there anyway.  He would have loved every minute of it.  I wonder what his first Christmas in heaven was like.   We all got a pillow from Grandma Remsburg made out of Grandpa’s shirts- so that was a favorite gift of everyone’s.  And, us grandkids made her a blanket made out of Grandpa’s shirts- and she loved it!  And, the boys got two new games- Gator Golf and Fishing!

It was another great Christmas filled with blessings.  Joe and I received pork from my parents and beef from his grandma and we both commented how that alone is more than what most of our world receives- how lucky we are that we have so many people around us who want to GIVE to us and our kids.  There were many moments throughout Christmas that I felt my children weren’t as grateful as what they should have been…they have yet to comprehend how blessed they are, how much God has given to us.  That’s why I pocketed all the cash they received.  I’ll show them! Tee hee hee.

Hope your Christmas was happy and safe!

I don't know what a weasel is, but I am completely creeped out by the idea!

I love your sentimental thoughts and then how you add that you pocketed your own kids' cash. Beautiful! True Holly form that can ALWAYS make me chuckle - even when I'm teary eyed!!!
