To Daddy- Happy Late Birthday!

Friday, November 13, 2009

Daddy's birthday was on Tuesday and we're just now honoring it on this blog- sorry, daddy! Here's an interview with your boys- enjoy!

Why do you love daddy?
Joey: Because he's strong.
Maddox: Because drops down a ball and rolls it.

What's your favorite thing to do with daddy?
Joey: Wrestle with him.
Maddox: Dance and do party songs with him.

What does daddy do best?
Joey: He can bounce balls super high on the house.
Maddox: He can go outside to Ashton's house.

What do you think is funny about daddy?
Joey: He punches me in the tummy. (please don't call DHS).
Maddox: He screams like this "ahhhh".

What toys does daddy like to play with you?
Joey: He likes to play with the treasure toys. The treasure box toys downstairs. I share them with him. He likes those.
Maddox: He likes Remsy.

Why does daddy love you so much?
Joey: He loves me because I play with him a lot.
Maddox: Because he throws up balls high in the air. (seriously, Maddox, you already used this answer once).
Joey: He loves Maddox because Maddox wrestles with him.

How do you know daddy loves you?
Joey: Because we don't poop in our pants and we don't pee in our pants. We go in the potty.
Maddox: Only babies poop in their pants.
Joey: He likes to hug us and wrestle us.

What does daddy do when he goes to work?
Joey: He makes money so he can buy us stuff. (smart kid)
Maddox: He buys some desks.

Here's an interview with mommy.
Joey and Maddox: Tell us some things we don't know about daddy.
Mommy: Okay!

1. He will try any food I put in front of him and never complains about supper, but he hates mushrooms and tomatoes.
2. He does not like to dance. Unless he has a cowboy hat on, and then all bets are off.
3. He loves Kenny Chesney and once said that Kenny was allowed to father my next child.
4. He still has his nearly all his best friends from when he moved here in 7th grade.
5. He loves, loves, loves his boys, but deep inside, I think you'd find a longing for a little girl. He adores his nieces and nephews.
6. ESPN Game Days are treated like beloved holidays in this house.
7. He has a friend. Who is in jail. Who has done terrible, terrible things. Who kept doing terrible things despite consequences. Who deserved to have every one of his friends and family bail on him. But, who called Joe from jail asking for help. Who sent Joe letters from jail. Who calls Joe still to catch up. And, when the whole world said no, Joe said yes, that he still deserved a second, or third, or fourth chance. And, in return for Joe's money that we've lent, in return for Joe's visits to jail, in return for his advice, Joe has asked that he just go to church one time. He gives so much and expects very little in return.
8. He gets carsick and insists on driving anywhere, otherwise he will be sick.
9. He loves my grandpas like his own and feels like he really missed out since his grandpas were taken from him so early in his life.
10. When he has to kick people out of their homes (because of his job), he loses sleep the night before and prays that somehow the family came up with some last-minute miracle to keep them in their house.
11. My organizational skills make him want to poke his own eyes out.
12. He used to say "no" right away when I mentioned adopting, but lately, it's less "nos" and more "we'll think about it" and one day, he may say he's ready.
13. He had never heard of a "pep bus" before I introduced the word to him.
14. Seeing Joe in an akward or uncomfortable situation is one of the best situations I'm ever in. I slowly watch him get nervous, start to sweat, not know what to say and want to crawl in a hole. It's really quite humorous.
15. He does not do a superb job of taking wallpaper off the wall (I just found this out this week. Good to know).

And, that's all folks. I'm sure there are lots more fun facts to share with you, but I'll save those for later!

Happy Birthday to a great husband and father! I usually say that we got really lucky when we got you, but Grandpa Cecil told me it was you that got lucky. I think I'll take his word on that.

We love uncle joe because we can be as loud as we want and can scream while he chases us and he lets aunt holly buy us lots of clothes on our birthdays.

I loved your interview last year & stole it then... stealing it again as I type. I'm so lucky that Nick's b-day is right AFTER Joe's, so I can pass off all of your good ideas as my own:)Thanks for your creativity!
