Cousins Weekend and Surprises!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

This weekend was the first annual Remsburg Cousins Weekend at my sister’s house. Jenny and Heather “hosted” the weekend and filled the weekend with….
Rock Bottom Brewery
Prizes and Drawings
Great snacks
Camille’s Café lunch
Lasagna and Vienna Bread
A morning walk
An afternoon beer
Gifts
Scrapbooking!
Laughter – LOTS of it!

It was an absolute blast…..we laughed….we talked….there were a few tears….we talked….we laughed….and we learned a lot about each other…things like this:
Things we would change about our wedding
Things we liked best about each other’s wedding
Best things about our husbands
How many kids we want to have
Daycare situations
Christmas plans
Why Kim likes us better than her own cousins
What we would do first if we won the lottery

The best part about the whole weekend is that these are the girls that I can absolutely be myself around. In life, there are only a few people who you can completely let loose around, who you can completely be honest with, who you can seek advice and actually want to hear every word they have to offer, who you can laugh at (and with), who you can look forward to seeing every single time you get together….and I’m so thankful these girls are actually my family, too. I hope Joey and Maddox have this kind of relationship with their cousins….although I doubt they will scrapbook….instead, I know they will have some dumb drunkfest golf outing in which they will never discuss “what they like best about their wives” but when their wives pick them up at 2 a.m., they will most certainly be reminded of their love.

When I got home from cousins weekend, I got an amazing surprise from my wonderful husband. He had the kitchen cupboards painted – inside and out. He had started the project on his own, enlisted a professional painter and had the job finished by the time I got home….house was cleaned, cupboards were painted, candles were lit. I was so, so happy – so happy that I missed the mess, that it was done without me weighing in, that I could come home and simply enjoy it. I absolutely love them, and love my husband even more for doing that for me. Here’s a before and after picture. Joe definitely scored some brownie points….

The next surprise that’s just as good as kitchen cupboards….Kelly and Tony are having BABY #2! Yeah! We found out last week and were sworn to secrecy until they had told some other key members of the family, but now we can finally spill the beans. Little Davis is going to be a BIG brother in May 2009! I was secretly really hoping they’d have a baby before their Decorah move….I love visiting babies in the hospital and a new baby is such an exciting, fun thing for any family, and I didn’t want to have to watch it from a distance. It will be a little more sad now that they are leaving us – knowing I’ll have two babies in Decorah to miss….but I know families do this every day, and most families have a lot more than 3 hours in between. So, I’m prepared! Kelly isn’t feeling the best though, so I hope that gets better for her. But, the second pregnancy is different because you can’t be lazy and take a nap whenever you want – because you have another little one who needs your constant attention. And, Tony’s working a lot now so Kelly is on her feet a lot and doesn’t get a lot of breaks. It’s just harder the second time around in general! The countdown is already on for the newest Coppola member….anyone want to take any bets that this is a boy???? Four just isn’t enough- we can always use another bruiser in the family….however, I feel like this just may be the first girl to grace us! But, as long as he/she is healthy, it doesn’t matter! Here's a picture of us with Tony, Kelly and Davis AND the teeny tiny baby in Kelly's tummy.....turns out they had just found out that day (national softball tourney) they were expecting!

That’s all for now….visit my sister’s blog to learn more about Cousins Weekend!
