I’ll start today with a couple of cute Joey conversations.
#1- Joey and I are visiting about going poopy in the potty.
Joey: Mom, I won’t go in my pants again!
Me: That’s good Joey because you’re a big boy and you need to go in the potty.
Joey: Yep! I’m going to go poop in the potty right now.
Me: Sounds good! Let’s go try.
We go to the potty, and of course, nothing. I pull up his pants and tell him nice try and send him downstairs. He comes back up 5 minutes later.
Joey: Mom, I think I’ll just go in my pants, okay?
Me: No, Joey, we’re not going to go in our pants!
Joey: Yeah, I don’t want to go in the potty, so I’m just going to go in my pants, okay?
And, with that, he walked out of the room like he was finished having the conversation with me!
As for potty training, he deserves an A+ with peeing in the potty. He’s a rock star. He goes on his own, he tells us when he has to go and hasn’t had an accident in forever. As for pooping in the potty, he deserves a D+. He has done it about 4 times now, but that’s it. I do feel like we’re making progress because he at least tries now. But, no significant progress. It’s frustrating!
#2- Joe was going to go get groceries with Joey on Sunday. Joey was wearing his Spiderman outfit- full outfit, plus the mask. Here’s how their conversation went:
Joe: Joey, we’re going to the grocery store so you have to put on your clothes.
Joey: No, I don’t. I want to wear this.
Joe: Joey, people are going to think you look silly in that in the store.
Joey: No, they aren’t, dad. They are going to see me and say, “Look, there’s a hero!”
How can you argue with that? Joey won, and wore his Spidey suit to the store. I wish I would have been in the store to see them shopping together.
#3 - Joey and I went home to Lake City this past weekend. I told him he got to see Papa Cecil that day. For backgrounder, my gpa Cecil lost his hand in a farming accident years ago. I’ve actually never known my gpa with a hand, so it’s never been a big deal to any of us grandkids. Here’s how the conversation with Joey went.
Me: Joey, you get to see Papa Cecil today!
Joey: Papa Cecil?! Yeah! Mom, is his hand back?
Me: No, Joey, he still doesn’t have a hand.
Joey: Awww, that makes me so, so sad.
Five minutes later, he asked to talk to Joe so we called him. Here’s how their conversation went.
Joey: I get to see Papa Cecil today. But, his hand isn’t back yet, dad.
Joe: That’s okay, Joey. Remember, it doesn’t hurt him. He’s tough.
Joey: Yeah, he’s tough!
#4- Last night, we went to Joe’s cousins baseball game. We get in the car afterwards to go home and here’s what Joey said.
Joey: Mom, will you pet my leg? It is so tired.
Me: You want me to rub it? Why?
Joey: It is so, so tired. It went all the way to the baseball game and all the way home and is so tired.
So, I rubbed his little leg! I’m not sure where he gets any of this stuff, but it sure is cute!
Like I said earlier, Joey and I went home this past weekend. I had a shower for my cousin’s fiancé on Friday late afternoon. It was also “Western Days” in Lake City, so there was a beer garden on Friday night and a ‘Fun Run’ 2-mile run in the morning. The shower was very nice- it was at Ashley’s house. The house looked great and all of our food was a hit. Afterwards, I went to the Wagon Wheel with my mom and her sisters for a sandwich. Then, I headed to the beer garden with Ashley, Dean and her friend. It was good seeing a few familiar faces, but I was home by 11. The next morning, we ran the Fun Run. I was meeting my cousins, Jenny and Kelly, and their kids at the run. We were really hoping Gpa Cecil would feel good enough to come into town and see us. But, turns out, he didn’t feel so hot so they couldn’t come in. But, it was fun walking with Jenny and Kelly, and our kids. The kids were good but I think Caitlin and Joey got bored. My other gpa and gma did come to the run though so that was fun to see them! My aunt and uncle did the run with their kids, too.

After the run, we went to my Gpa and Gpa’s house for lunch. Gma had her infamous chicken salad which we all love! Gpa looked okay, just looked weak, I guess. We all sat around the living room and visited and let the kids entertain us for the most part. Caitlin danced, Joey sang, Talia and Macy just looked cute, and there was wrestling all around. I love watching Gpa watch the kids. He enjoys every minute of it. Jeff was also home on break from Palmer so it was fun to hang out with him a little. Joey enjoys rubbing his bald head as seen below!

When I got home from Lake City, Joe had the entire house cleaned from top to bottom and did a lot of little "extras" that needed to be done. I was extremely grateful but so tired, I could hardly express it. Joe took Joey to a bar and grill with his friend, Matt, to watch the Cubbies play. Joe said Joey was so good and loved playing the video games and said the waitresses loved Joey. Apparently, he was showing off big-time and singing his "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" song for whoever would listen. The weekend ended with church on Sunday and just playtime with the boys after that.
4th of July weekend is coming up and we have no big plans! We are going to the I-Cubs game on Thursday night with friends and I'm testing out a new babysitter, which makes me nervous. But, as for the weekend, we're pretty wide open right now!
